Vorbild

Die Baureihe V 100(ab 1968 Baureihe 211) war eine Diesellokomotive für den leichten Reise- und Güterzugdienst auf Nebenstrecken.

Ende der 1950er Jahre wurde die V 100 von der Deutsche Bundesbahn für nicht elektrifizierte Nebenstrecken als Ersatz für den Betrieb mit Dampflokomotiven vorgesehen. Die Lok wurde in zwei verschiedenen Ausführungen produziert.

Die Baureihe V 100.20 (ab 1968 Baureihe 212) ist eine leistungsstärkere Variante der V 100. Sie wurde erstmals 1962 in Dienst gestellt und war im Gegensatz zur im Nebenbahndienst eingesetzten V 100 auch für den Haupt- und Steilstreckendienst vorgesehen. Bis 1966 wurden insgesamt 381 Exemplare in Dienst gestellt. Zehn Lokomotiven aus der letzten Serie von 150 Maschinen wurden außerdem mit verstärkten Bremsen und modifizierten Getrieben versehen und waren auf Steilrampen im Einsatz. Diese ursprünglich als V 100 2332 bis 2341 eingereihten Loks wurden ab 1968 als Baureihe 213 geführt.

1988 wurden die 212 236, 212 244, 212 257, 212 271 und 212 352 im AW Kassel zu TuHi Loks umgebaut. 1989 wurden die 212 033, 212 046, 212 235, 212 245, 212 246, 212 251, 212 260, 212 277 im Ausbesserungswerk Bremen für den Einsatz der in Rettungszug umbenannten Tunnelrettungszügen umgebaut. Diese bestanden aus zwei Transport-, je einem Geräte- und Löschwagen sowie einem Sanitätswagen. Der RTZ Fulda hat abweichend einen zweiten Sanitätswagen. Die 13 Loks erhielten die Bezeichnung Baureihe 214, wurden jedoch später nochmals in Baureihe 714 umbenannt. 1996/97 wurde im Werk Stendal die 212 269 zur 714 014 und die 212 160 zur 714 015 umgebaut..

Insgesamt 36 Lokomotiven der V 100 wurden von den Österreichischen Bundesbahnen (ÖBB) ab Anfang der 1990er Jahre übernommen. Die für den Betrieb vorgesehenen Lokomotiven erhielten einen neuen Hauptdieselmotor. Bis zum 1. Oktober 2003 waren die Lokomotiven als Reihe 2048 in Betrieb. Meistens zogen sie Güterzüge auf Nebenbahnen.

Farbvarianten

Auslieferungsfarbe der Baureihe V 100 war altrot. Ab 1974 gab es die ersten Lokomotiven in der neuen ozeanblau-beigen Lackierung. Ende 1987 folgte das orientrote Farbschema mit weißem Lätzchen und zuletzt das verkehrsrote Farbschema .
